As an expecting first time dad, I had an endless amount of questions and I did not know where to begin. Early on, I read about the positive benefits a doula could provide for the mom and birthing partner. Grace felt like the perfect support person from the moment we met her. We began working with Grace mid-COVID and understood that our support would likely be fully remote - including support during the birth.
Our sessions with Grace were excellent. We had three virtual sessions throughout the pregnancy and each one was perfectly designed to meet us where we were at. We looked forward to each session and came away from them so energized, with excellent new information and resources.
As our pregnancy progressed and COVID restrictions lifted a bit, Grace let us know that she would be available for in-person support at the hospital. We were thrilled!
When my wife's labor began, she was in a tremendous amount of pain due to back labor. When we got to the hospital, Grace was instrumental in helping my wife through her birth wish of a non-medicated birth. Grace used a number of different positions, tools, and techniques that helped naturally alleviate pain and keep the birthing process moving in a productive way. There were times when the medical team wanted to take a specific action, and Grace was able to advocate for a different solution or a delay of an intervention. Without Grace, we wouldn't have been aware of alternatives. Grace's support throughout the laboring process was incredible - she was there for my wife, but also supported me so that I could be my best for my wife.
We couldn't have done this without Grace. I can't recommend her enough.
