Idil was an absolutely fantastic birth doula, especially during what ended up being a challenging birth experience for me as a first time mom!
My contractions were intensely painful but the labor nurse insisted it was too early for an epidural and minimized my pain, but Idil helped by massaging my back and talking me through the contractions and pain (she also advocated for me, but this nurse would not budge). Whenever I was feeling lucid enough to talk, she would distract me with questions and conversation. She also made sure to include my husband, as the experience was tough for both of us!
Ultimately the nurse's belief that I wasn't actually in labor and would not be delivering that day was wrong, and because of her hesitance to order an epidural I ended up having a completely unmedicated and very fast birth. I couldn't have done it without Idil's encouragement and support. What could have been a traumatic and difficult situation ended up feeling supportive and positive with her help. I would recommend Idil to anyone, but especially anyone concerned about pain. Thank you Idil!
