I had my first child in September 2020. Lisa was my birth and, is still currently, my post partum doula. I've enjoyed having Lisa as my doula and would recommend her.
BIRTH
Lisa is a supporter of natural, unmedicated birth, which was aligned to my birth plan. She was very professional from the start, providing alot of information though the initial documents and talking about her style of work. She is very approachable and flexible, and put in effort to get to know me and my husband. We had 3 consultations before the birth during which she answered our questions about the birthing process etc. especially providing assurances to my husband. She is an active listener and I greatly appreciate her adapting her communication style to match our preferences.
During the laboring and delivery, Lisa was present the whole 30 hours with us both at home to labor and in the hospital! She was a very calming and reassuring presence and never left my side. She was very encouraging and helpful in suggesting positions and exercises to help during the process of labor. Lisa also provided good advice when a medical intervention (induction and painkillers) was suggested. We would have been too anxious and unsure of what to do if not for Lisa who gave her thoughts and also checked with her doula friends. Lisa was instrumental in guiding my husband to support me during my time in labor and delivery. As a Christian doula, it was also very sweet and meaningful to have her pray with us during the process as well!
POSTPARTUM
Lisa currently comes 2-3 times a week to help with household chores and baby care. She has been a huge help here. She is proactive in getting the house straightened up and also taught us baby care (cleaning, swaddling, soothing, breastfeeding etc) skills, which have been very helpful! Having Lisa has been so vital for us to gain a couple hours back in the day and we couldn't be more grateful!
