I was so excited to be pregnant, but personally, I was going through a very difficult time. After sharing my personal story, fears and hopes related to the pregnancy and medical background, Meredith made me feel heard, safe and cared for. Throughout my time with her as doula, I was able to call, text or email questions and concerns.
When it was time, she helped me craft the birth plan I wanted while educating and gently coaching me along the way. Then night had come...or had it? I wasn't sure. Again I turned to Meredith for guidance, and again she gently coached and encouraged me along the right path. When she met me in the delivery room, I was once again reassured and encouraged by her knowledge, professionalism and sweet bedside manner. I was in active labor for FOUR hours, and Meredith pulled out all the tricks for me! My OBGYN and the nursing staff were great, but it was Meredith that really focused on me. Helping me individually, coaching me, picking up on what was working at wasn't, what I needed and what I didn't need. Again my OBGYN and nursing staff were great, but without her there, I don't think my experience would have been the same. She brought it all together for me.
Apart from being a genuinely amazing woman, Meredith also had several years of experience as an L&D RN. Bonus, it was at the hospital where I was set to deliver and she had worked with my OBGYN previously.
Since our first meet and greet, Meredith immediately felt like a trusted friend, a big sister and a knowledgeable caregiver to me. If I have more children, I would absolutely want her by my side again. She's the kind of woman that you work with and for some many more reasons than I can list here, you walk away wishing you were real-life friends with. Ten out of ten, no questions asked, I highly recommend Meredith! She helped turned one of the scariest moments in my life into the best memories that I will never forget.
