My husband and I were on the fence about hiring a doula when we first started planning to have our second daughter. My first birth experience was so quick I did not know what value a doula could bring seeing how we already had a successful unmediated birth once before. I first loved the fact that Meredith has experience in the medical field as a nurse because I am in the medical field as well. I know the value of having someone by your side that can navigate and translate the jargon for you in high stress situations. We also hit it off quickly during the interview process and my husband and I instantly felt some of the pressure relieved just from knowing she was in our corner. The birth of our second daughter was a whirlwind and I progressed very quickly again. I honestly do not think we would have made it to the hospital without Meredith's coaching! Even over the phone, she kept us calm, in control, and reminded us of all the skills we already knew that fly out the window when it's "go time". We chose to have a hospital birth and even so she was invaluable to our team. Her postpartum support, the two week check in, and her recommendations for any newborn issues you may really get you through those first couple of weeks home! I've already been recommending her to my other soon to be mommy friends and will definitely be using her again if we have more children!
