Kelly was absolutely wonderful. She supported us through the ups and downs of plans for home birth but after plans changed, I was most grateful for her during labor and delivery. I originally hired her because I wanted to have the best chance for a normal delivery at a hospital with a lot of protocols and she did exactly what I needed her to do and more. My labor was fast but she arrived exactly at the right time, she kindly suggested new ideas to the nurse so that I could labor without being hooked to the monitor and was able to get in the tub. One of the wonderful things about Kelly is she has a great relationship with the nurses so there isn't any of that awkward tension of nurse vs doula that I've seen before. With such a fast labor, I felt a little out of control and dramatic because I was in denial that things were moving that fast and she constantly reminded me I was doing it correctly and it was just happening quickly. She helped me with positioning and breathing through contractions, and most importantly, she knew what I needed before I even had to ask. I just felt safe and calm knowing she was there able to advocate for me and the only thing I had to do was have a baby... and that alone comforted me the most. I will forever be grateful for her during my daughters birth.
