I hired a doula because I knew my husband wouldn't be able to give me the support I would need and want during my delivery and it was absolutely the best decision for both of us. My labour did not go how I envisioned it and ended with an emergency c-section. Steph was with me every step of the way - including into the OR. There is a lot I wish I could change about my birth but the one thing I never have second guessed was my decision to hire Steph. Not only did she help calm my nerves throughout my pregnancy - but she also helped me postpartum while I struggled to accept the way everything went. On more then one occasion she came over and supported me as I worked through it all.
She was a calming and reassuring presence throughout my delivery not only for myself but my husband as well. She never once felt entrusive on us - and never once did I feel judged or questioned at some of my naive visions of birth. She whole heartedly supported me and I would recommend her to anyone who was pregnant and looking for that extra support.
