When my husband and I initially met with Kate, we felt an immediate connection and knew that we wanted her as our doula for our 2nd birth. We were planning an unmedicated natural birth, and it was very important to us to have the right support. Kate has a calming and peaceful presence that helps you open up and discuss your thoughts, fears, and preferences for your labor and birth. She was so helpful in our meetings, giving us evidence-based information as well as pain coping techniques and baby positioning exercises-- showing my husband how he could help me with them. When we started our journey with Kate, we were planning for a hospital birth. When we started thinking about a home birth, she was our biggest advocate and helped us to find the resources we needed to find a provider. She helped us to feel confident about our home birth and checked in regularly as my due date got closer, and then passed ;) My labor came on VERY quickly, and Kate helped me through contractions over the phone, and brought her wonderful calming presence with her the second she walked in the door-- just in time for the birth! She stayed with us and helped us and our midwife team after the birth as well. We have been so thankful for her.
