Testimonial for Joy Lind
As my doula, Joy had a difficult task: to be the doula for a strongly opinionated, independent, used-to-serving-others-but-reluctant-to-accept-help, experienced doula and mama of five. The best of doulas tailor their support to the desires of their clients, and Joy did just that. She did everything exactly right. There is nothing I would change about how she supported me, nothing I wish she had said or didn't say, did or didn't do. I have nothing but gratitude and praise for Joy's doula support.
Joy listened well during our prenatal visits, asked good questions, and honored my concerns and requests, while also being flexible and attentive to the needs that presented themselves during the birth. When she entered the room where I was laboring, I felt a deeper sense of courage, strength, and peace, and suddenly felt ready to dive into the work of birthing my baby. As I labored, Joy worked hard behind-the-scenes to meet my physical needs (refilling water bottles, doling out snacks, cleaning up, fetching blankets, etc.), to free up my husband to remain close by my side, which is one of the major reasons we hired a doula. She was thoughtful and encouraging in her words, but also knew when to be silent (which is just as valuable!). Her joy over the birth of our sweet little one was palpable.
The birth, as sweet and wonderful as it was, would not have been the same without Joy Lind there. She is a remarkable, passionate, caring doula who goes above and beyond to serve "her mamas" in a myriad of ways. The difference she made in our birth experience was worth every cent and more!
