Suzanne went above and beyond her role, and the experience of the birth of our second daughter would not have been the positive experience that it was without her. I was 39 years old during my pregnancy, and at 38 weeks I was induced because of preeclampsia. It was scary because my husband was out of town and I didn’t feel ready. Suzanne accompanied me from the time I had the blood test that confirmed preeclampsia, until our daughter was born…the next day! She stayed by my side all night and advised me through all the decisions that had to be made along the way AND made sure my husband made it home (from St-John’s NL, to Edmonton!) on time to see our daughter be born. That is going above and beyond! Thank goodness Suzanne has great friends at Westjet AND she was willing to call upon them for help to make sure my husband got to the hospital on time. That was one of his biggest fears, having to work out of town, and she was persistent in making sure we could stick as close as possible to our birth plan. Many things medically didn’t go the way I had hoped, but thanks to Suzanne, I felt well accompanied and remained (mostly!) calm during the process. She worked extremely well with the medical staff that was at the hospital and it made me feel safe and taken care of throughout the birth of our daughter.
Suzanne carried her role even after birth when my milk supply wasn’t enough for our daughter. She came to my home and connected me with an outstanding lactation consultant who helped me work through this hurdle.
Suzanne is a caring, professional, knowledgeable and experienced Doula, and I highly recommend her services to any expecting mother and families. You will be glad you had the chance to have her in your life for such an important event.
