I absolutely loved working with Jill! One of my favorite things was how she’d regularly check in on me. I found this to be so wonderful, especially because I would sometimes feel isolated being the first person in my friend group to be pregnant and not having any family nearby. She is extremely easy to talk to and never thinks your questions or worries are silly or bothersome. We chose to also do our birthing class with Jill, which made it really easy to tailor to my plan, and when I found out I had to be induced, we were able to focus on the relevant information and quickly get through the material since I had to deliver 3 weeks early. She has been a part of so many births that she was able to share many things that aren’t necessarily in the books, which was invaluable. With the class and throughout our engagement, she helped me manage any anxiety I had by reassuring me and letting me know what was normal and when I may want to ask more questions. During labor, she was intuitive and quickly figured out my style and what I needed to be as comfortable as possible. Also, I had assumed doulas would only be in favor of natural births, but I found Jill supportive of any birth plans and not judgmental if you don’t plan to go natural or if your plan changes along the way, like mine did. I had expected to feel guilty for getting an epidural, but I think a primary reason I did not feel any guilt is because Jill was so supportive and informed me that the induction caused particularly rougher contractions that normal. Another asset stemming from Jill’s years of experience is that she has a vast network of medical professionals to recommend when additional support is needed, such as lactation specialists, pediatricians, acupuncturists, chiropractors, etc. All in all, I’m so thankful to have had Jill beside me during this journey, and she has my highest recommendation. Just be aware that you may cry at the conclusion of your time together...
