My husband and I we are expecting our first child and our plan was to have a natural birth so we hired a Doula for extra labor support as both of our families live out of state. We first met Katie when she taught our childbirth class at UNC hospitals. Her calm natured behavior was just what we needed to balance out our anxious/excited attitudes.
Katie met with us twice in our own home and reviewed many different techniques of exercises and different positions to help cope when early labor should arise.
When it was actually time to go to the hospital we kept Katie updated on my labor status. She met us at the hospital once I felt that my labor had progressed to where my husband and I needed the extra support. Due to unforseen circumstances, I was unable to have a natural childbirth but having the support of Katie there during the entire pushing of my labor helped my husband and I feel supported.
We would hire Katie again should we decide to have a second child in the future!
