My testimonial is a bit late! My daughter was born 6/29/19. I first met Ellie in April and we sat and talked about the process of her training/services. I told her how my pregnancy had been progressing and what I wished for my labor/delivery. Ellie is an easy woman to open up to and after our first meeting I felt very comfortable in my decision to have this perfect stranger on my birthing team. When I was approaching my due date Ellie brought me a birthing ball and gave me tips to help get the baby in the correct position and to aid the process. My water broke, but I didn't go into labor so I ended up having to be induced. Ellie rushed to my side for intake and to begin the process. She had healthy snacks and drinks, a robozo, and massage tools. My birthplan was completely exempt at that point, but we were rolling with the punches and Ellie was transitioning like a PRO. She was effectively communicating with and for me and interacting with my nurses, doctors, anesthesiologist, and my babie's father. She really balanced the room so well! After six hours and two doses I started contracting. Ellie had calm music playing and asked the nurse to bring an oil diffuser. I was getting slammed with back-to-back contractions and I held out as long as I could before asking for an epidural. This process took forty-five minutes and with each contraction Ellie was coaching me through "ride the wave" and breathing with me. An hour later my baby was born! Ellie captured the best pictures and stayed for a couple of hours. She came for a postpartum visit where she gifted me an all-natural belly bind and also a beautiful little picture book of our labor experience. Ellie is completely passionate about assisting women in their amazing time of labor and I highly recommend her. I am forever greatful for my experience with Ms. Shields!
