Lauren was incredibly wonderful to have at the birth of our daughter and she was an asset to our birth team.
When we first met about the birth of our third child, I was pretty anxious and also felt prepared for anything to happen- but all I desired was a peaceful birth. With two previous preterm births and one cesearean I knew that my desire to have a at least “normal” birth and a VBAC were a long shot. It was evident that Lauren had invested in her education and had equipped herself with the training to provide highly evidenced based and thoughtful care for her clients and families. Lauren was really comfortable with the different scenarios that could take place and offered not only emotional/mental support and but creative ideas to make nearly every undesirable situation one that I could see being peaceful and still joyful.
After hitting certain milestones in my pregnancy it was clear that I may actually get to experience a fully term birth. Which actually caused me to a little nervous. During long days of prodromal labor, Lauren was able to suggest tangible ways to alienate discomforts and emotional support. For a VBAC I was not a candidate for induction- I grew very restless at the idea of another c section and Lauren was empathetic to my worries and concerns. More than that Lauren continued to be a source of information and ideas.
Finally, in the middle of the night, at exactly 40 weeks pregnant, our daughter was on her way. Lauren was my advocate during the VBAC process and along with my husband I had the an incredibly peaceful and joyous birth. She was supportive when I opted for the epidural and helped out my body in positions to keep labor progressing in a natural way. She was knowledgeable, creative, and proactive and I’m so blessed that she was present on our daughters very special birth-day.
