I felt a connection with Brandi at our very 1st meeting, as she radiated such a warmth and love of childbirth that I knew she had to be my doula! She was great about being in touch with me in the months leading up to my due date, and we had a visit about a month before my due date to go over some labor positions and exercises, as well as just cover all the bases to make me feel the most prepared for labor and delivery. Toward the end of my pregnancy, she wanted me to check in after each OB appt, and she was incredibly responsive and supportive. The day I went into labor, she was sooo excited when I called to tell her it was go-time. We met at the hospital and she was such a wonderful presence. She had the right balance of scaling back a bit to see just what I needed to feel the most comfortable, but also wasn't afraid to step in and take charge in a moment where it seemed like I needed help. I can remember laboring at one point on the birthing ball next to the hospital bed, moaning and rocking forwards and back, and she came up and squeezed my back/hips during a contraction in a way that was such a relief. She showed tremendous empathy, knowledge, and care.
As labor ramped up for me, my body started to feel more out of control, and she really helped me stay focused and attain my goal of going med-free. Once baby was born, she was such a positive presence in the room. Brandi got to cut the cord and then help as baby first latched. Brandi stayed with me until I got moved into a post-partum room at the hospital. Then, a few weeks after the birth, she came to my home for a visit and to check on how I was doing.
I have to especially commend Brandi on her great communication, as well as her general passion for labor and birth. This is truly what she is meant to do in life. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and incredibly supportive. She is there to be your advocate and strongest ally in birth.
