From the first conversation we had with Ellie in the early weeks of my first pregnancy, I had a feeling she would be a special and important part of our experience bringing our daughter into the world.
She helped us achieve our hope for an unmedicated, natural birth for our baby using self hypnosis. I can't imagine having done it without her. My husband, Michael, feels the same way! Ellie is incredibly knowledgeable and kind and has a big beautiful heart and a great sense of humor. She was an excellent resource as my pregnancy (and number of questions) progressed and in the wild, blurry weeks after I gave birth. During my labor in the hospital, I was also struck by how professional Ellie is. She communicated with clarity and knew when and how to ask questions that helped us understand what was happening around us and work with the hospital staff to create the experience we hoped for.
Thinking about it weeks later, I still can hardly believe how kind, strong and wonderful Michael and Ellie were despite the exhaustion and duration of our labor. They held space around me so that I felt safe and secure, even when things did not progress the way we hoped or expected. They kept the environment soft, dark and quiet so I could be as deep within as I needed to be to bring our baby into the world without interventions. They were vigilant, talking with the hospital staff and each other so I could surrender entirely to birth. They believed in and reflected back my strength through it all. I am so grateful that Ellie was there with us. I feel certain our daughter's birth story would not have unfolded quite as beautifully as it did without Ellie.
