Charity's support of my wife and I through the birth of our first son was immeasurable. For my wife, Charity was a support, a guide, and an advocate. For me, as a first time dad, Charity was an anchor. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t completely on board with hiring a doula prior to meeting and working with Charity, but my wife was insistent so I didn’t push back. Now, however, I can’t imagine having gone through the process without Charity. Our son’s birth wasn’t an easy labor, and I found myself stuck between trying to remaining steady and calm for my wife while simultaneously managing my own anxiety and fear. Charity’s presence grounded me, and allowed me to be there for my wife in a way that would otherwise have been impossible. She insured we were always informed about what was happening, that we were processing all of the information coming at us, and that we were present in the moment. I cannot express adequately enough how much Charity was and remains a force for good in the life of our little family and I can't thank her enough.
