When my second child was born I had not planned to hire a post partum doula. The doula I used for my first child (who is now retired) had been wonderful and really showed me the ropes and I thought I could handle it this time around. Within 2 weeks, I realized I needed support. My sweet boy was colicky, suffered from severe reflux and I was exhausted. I connected with Kristi Ramey and felt at ease immediately.
Kristi is highly experienced, educated as well as calm, kind and supportive. She was an incredible gift during the first 2 months. She took amazing care of my son, watching him as closely as I would. Many a night, she held him for hours as that was the only position he could comfortably sleep. She also provided valuable insight in helping my 2 ½ year old adjust to being a big sister.
Her experience really shined when on her second visit she gently asked me if he could be tongue tied. I immediately realized she was correct. I brought him to a specialist that morning who clipped his tongue, making it easier for him to breast feed as well as prevent speech issues when he is older. She then taught me exercises to do with his tongue and mouth to help his recovery.
Kristi is an amazing, caring doula who is also wonderful person. She made the first 2 months so much easier as well as calm. I always looked forward to the nights she was coming as I knew I could sleep because my little boy would be safe and cared for.
I highly recommend her as a baby nurse.
