I cannot put into words my gratitude for having Jessica by our side for the birth of our daughter. Also knowing she will be there to help us through the first year brings a huge relief. After working with her, I can confidently say she is the only person I could hand my baby to without even thinking twice about it.
From our first meeting, she had a calm nature that I felt comfortable with having there for myself and my family. She was very supportive leading up to the birth and was a great resource to turn to as to not bombard our Midwife without it being necessary.
After being there throughout my 16 hour induced labour, Jessica was immediately at our side after coming out of the OR to help with the first latch. She also acted as a more clear headed communicator between us and the hospital staff to ensure what we wanted or didn't want for our baby was heard and understood. She continued to offer support to make breastfeeding easier while healing after surgery as well as past the point of recovery. On the days and nights I was feeling unsure about anything at all, she would respond quickly with a message or a phone call if she felt necessary.
Overall, there is something truly remarkable and comforting about learning from Jessica. From breasfeeding, to the soothing techniques, all the way down to baby wearing, and bath time, everything she does is very hands on and easy to follow. She is extremely knowledgeable and without a doubt, after every home visit, we would feel more confident in our actions handling the little one (even through the difficult overly awake and fussy periods of the day babies go through).
From a couple who never planned on having children to full blown parents, we owe the ease of our successful first 4 months with our daughter to Jessica. With every passing day, I am thankful Jessica is on the island and we managed to cross paths for such a huge milestone in our lives.
