The team at Ramey Birth and Postpartum Doulas and Kristi in particular have been such an invaluable part of making our lives as the parents of a newborn not just bearable, but actually enjoyable!
We hired Kristi and her crew as postpartum doulas, specifically in a night nurse capacity. We have worked with Kristi 90% of the time, but she has brought other members of her team to cover dates when we needed a little more care than originally planned for :-). Everyone has been courteous, professional, prompt, and most importantly, completed dedicated to the care of our son.
We quickly discovered that having a night nurse is so much more than just hiring a babysitter. Kristi and team were able to help us with lactation, sleep training, skin care, nail care, recommend what to buy/not to buy, and talk us off the ledge (constantly) when we panicked over hiccups and coughs and other weird sounds. The nice thing about working with Kristi is that she has a network of directly-affiliated doulas as well as relationships with other doulas/companies, so we always had good coverage and if there was any question one of the doulas wasn't 100% sure on, she would ask the network and we'd have an answer by the next day.
When you compare the price they charge to what a good nanny would charge, account for the fact that they are working overnight hours (and I know Kristi is very intentional about getting a full "night's" rest during daytime hours so she loses that time as well) and add on to that the fact that we basically have a 24/7 advice/crisis resolution hotline, I found the value to be fantastic for our family.
