Ana was our postpartum doula and I am so glad we hired her. She was extremely helpful to our family since the first days in the hospital, where she was able to come on a very short notice. She is very knowledgeble, but doesn't push her opinions. When I look back at our first weeks with our newborn daughter, I think of one night when Ana was on a night shift with us and she suggested I try using a nipple shield (I was not able to latch my baby). Turned out, I actually had a shield at home, but didn't know how to use it. We tried it at the next feed and my baby latched right away! It was the most wonderful and magical moment that I will remeber forever. If she did not suggest it, if I continued to pump for a few more days or weeks, maybe breasfeeding wouldn't have happened for us at all. Seems like such an easy solution now, but, first time parents, we just didn't know.
In addition to her help with breastfeeding and taking care of our baby, Ana cooked delicious recovery meals for me (that my husband also enjoyed), did grocery shopping, pharmacy runs and some house chores. She picked up quickly on what we needed and was able to do a lot within the hours of her shift, often without us needing to ask. I would highly recommend her as a portpartum doula!
