The role of the doula is more than a support person during labor and delivery. Amanda not only offered amazing support during my unmedicated labor and delivery, but she was available throughout my pregnancy and even after I had the baby. Amanda and I discussed my birth wishes and any concerns I had before the "big day". She shared vairous pain managment techniques that did not involve drugs, but she also shared with me what my options for medication at the hospital would be. During labor and delivery Amanda supported me by holding my hand, talking me through contractions with visualization, and most importantly gave me lots of water to drink! :-) These were techniques that brought me the most comfort during my labor and delivery; however, this is not all Amanda suggested to me. While my husband was with my baby in the nursery for her bath, Amanda stayed in my room while I took a shower and made sure I had everything I needed in my room. I know that I could not have had the birth I wished for without Amanda. She truly is a natural in her role as a doula. I highly recommend Amanda to anyone looking for an amazing doula.
