I can’t imagine going through the birth of my son without Renata. My son was in a bad position so I ended up having a very long and more difficult labor. Active labor lasted about 24 hours. My husband and I planned to have a drug free birth and deliver in the water. Throughout my labor at the hospital, Renata was right by my side the whole time to help me in whatever way I needed. She would massage me, fan me when I got hot, wrap me in a blanket when I got the chills, anticipated when I was about to be sick and would be right there with a vomit bag. She would help me with my hypnobirthing breathing when she could see that I was starting to steer from it and it would get me back on track. She had so many ideas for different positions to try to get the baby into a better position and most importantly she was always right there with words of encouragement which gave me strength and let me know that I could do it. Overall, her demeanor was perfect. She has a quiet presence that is not in your face but is there in the background and then she just can read you well and tell exactly what you need at the right time without using much talking. Her calm, relaxed presence really help keep the mood with the hypnobirthing type environment that we were trying to achieve in the labor room. Prior to labor, we met with Renata 2 times at our house and she always had some useful information to share with us about labor and delivery. She also showed my husband many techniques to help me during contractions such as positions, counter pressure and the like so my husband was really well prepared to help me during labor. During the labor, Renata was a good complement to my husband and always let him be involved as much as he wanted. Overall, I can’t speak highly enough of Renata and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a doula. With her help, we were able to achieve the labor and birth we wanted, completely drug free and my baby was born in the water.
