Testimonial for Carolynn Slocum
I am SO thankful to have had the recommendation for Carolynn as a doula from a friend. Because, prior to this whole experience, I was not very well-versed on Doulas or their capabilities. I had no idea how much having an advocate, friend and coach there for you during labor would make a difference! Now, having gone through it all, I would not have done it any other way. It was hands-down the best decision that I made.
I truly do believe that having Carolynn there during my labor, allowed me to follow my birth plan, which was a non-medicated birth. Therefore, despite several complications, stalled labor and a very large baby, this allowed me to have a vaginal delivery without epidural, and helped me to avoid a c-section or forceps. This was my first child as well. There were several times I wanted to give up, and Carolynn helped guide me and keep me strong. She was just the right amount of everything. My husband and my mom were there too, and they were actively involved. I needed all the support I could get.
If you are even remotely considering a doula, just realize that it is a small price to pay to help you have a more smooth labor process all around. I HIGHLY recommend Carolynn, and would do it all over the same way if I had to.
