I was interested in a natural birth, and knew having a doula present was an essential part of the process.When we met Heidi I knew she was the one!She was so calm, comforting, fun and easy going!I loved her driven personality and how whatever our birth preferences were she would support us 100%.We took her childbirth class in our home which was so imformative and convienient!During my early labor it was SO nice to have Heidi to text anytime with questions or tips.I believe if I didn't have Heidi at my birth I would have had a C section, because our baby was in a bad position.After 6 hours of intense back labor, only being 3 cm I opted for the epidural.From 1:30am-9am I stalled at 7 cm and when my OB checked me at 9am I had two hours to see if I could progress before looking at a c section. After this Heidi and the nurse grabbed my leg and flipped it across my body so I was in an exaggerated side lying SIMS position.When my OB came back I was 10 cm, baby was in the optimal position and we were ready to push!After 1 hour of pushing, our sweet girl was born!Heidi took pictures and video with my phone so we have those precious moments captured!Many women think I probably want an epidural so a doula isn't nessesary. Even with an epidural there are so many questions you have and things that can happen. Without Heidi doing that spinning babies move I believe a C section would have happened.Nurses and OBs in the hospital are usually not well versed in these techniques.A doula is an amazing resource to have by your side whether you plan on having drugs or not!Heidi also has a ton of great resources for you postpartum.Our little one had a tongue and lip tie that the hospital and pedicatrican missed so when she put us in touch with an amazing lactation consultant it was such a blessing! Heidi made our birth such a postive and empowering experience and for anyone on the fence about hiring a doula, it's ALWAYS worth it, especially Heidi!:)
