I hired Chris for support through the pregnancy and birth of our first child. I knew that hiring a doula was right for me because I have a very limited (no) support system outside of my husband. We experienced a "failed pregnancy" 5 years ago, so I've been extremely hesitant to embark on this birth journey without additional support. Chris made me feel comfortable and much more prepared for the "labyrinth" of birth and early motherhood.
Chris was an outstanding resource for educating and empowering us through providing information and encouragement.My late pregnancy was challenging, my birth was one of those rare medical exceptions that necessitated a C-section (I got 4 medicall opinions). This was not the natural birth I initially prepared for, but Chris's support enabled me to be gentler with myself and to provide me with the resources necessary to make some very difficult decisions.
She attended the birth right before and after the c-secition and I am so happy she was there to remind me of the breathing and relaxing tools in my "toolbox" to preserve the sanctity of the birth experience and calm my nerves.
I am currently only 2 weeks post-partum, and Chris continues to be a strong support person with good information and recommendations for coping with this transition period to help keep sane and bond with my beautiful, healthy baby girl. :)
I recommend Chris to those who are looking to dig deep and have an empowered birth experience whether that is natural birth or not, or first time child or 3rd.
