At first I was on the fence about hiring a Doula as I hadn't for my first baby. However my husband is in medical school and I wasn't sure where he would be and wanted the extra support. Hiring Jessica was the best decision!!! Her experience and knowledge made me feel empowered and wonderfully supported.
Throughout my labour and delivery she anticipated my needs and did things I didn't even know I wanted (lower back massage, ice chips on the ready). She helped me stay calm and focussed. Throughout Jessica kept reassuring me and reminding me of cues and things to think about. I'm very grateful for her coaching. As a former athlete I loved being directed, guided and supported in a way that was gentle, loving and clear.
When our little girl was born Jessica immediately helped her latch and begin feeding. Breastfeeding went much better for this baby and I believe that great start as well as the advice and recommendations Jessica gave helped with this. Watching her bath our little girl for the first time was magical. And bath time has been wonderful ever since!
More recently I texted Jessica for some breastfeeding advice, and a quick phone call and some simple and great advice (changing positions) has improved our situation!
