Kari started as my massage therapist, then supported me through fertility issues with fertility massage, then used her talents throughout my pregnancy with wonderful, relaxing pregnancy massages. When it came time to find a doula, Kari seemed the obvious choice.
My experience with Kari as a doula couldn't have been better. Leading up to delivery time, she was completely supportive of all of my birth choices, talked me through decisions, and made me feel comfortable and confident with my birth plan. She introduced me to techniques to help me through an unmedicated hospital birth that included Dancing for Birth and Spinning Babies and she provided me with relevant reading to make me comfortable with techniques and philosophies to support my decisions.
When the time came (in the wee hours of the night), Kari talked me through early labor, helped decide when to go to the hospital, then settled in for active labor. She supported me through contractions, helped my husband feel comfortable and helped him know how to support me. She employed techniques to help my baby drop into the birth canal, helped me relax, and generally helped me through the birthing process with minimal stress.
Kari's post-partum care was amazing as well. She checked in on our family and made sure that we were adjusting to family life. She provided massage, supported self-care, and provided whatever was needed to help with those first few weeks at home. She encouraged me to get out and participate in baby classes like TummyTime and guided me to an infant massage specialist to help his transition into the "real world". Her recent certification in TummyTime will be helpful to lots of new moms.
In summary, my experience with Kari was incredible and highly recommend her.
