Hiring Jessica as our doula was one of the best decisions we made! She attended both of my births and provided post-partum support 24/7 for a couple of weeks following delivery. She was also available by text and phone throughout the first year. It was so comforting and reassuring to have a totally impartial person providing advice and support. I really had no idea what to expect in the early days, and she helped us navigate through the fog of sleepless nights (and days) and helped me figure out how to breastfeed. She helped build my confidence as a new mom and now my early memories of motherhood are very positive as a result. I would have been completely lost without her!
Her support through the labour and delivery was also invaluable. I was induced after my water broke for #1, and she stayed with me and helped us understand what was happening and coached me through the whole process. The second labour happened so quickly....Jessica was on the phone coaching me to breathe in the car as my husband drove like a race car driver to the hospital. We made it with 15 mins to spare, and I'm sure we would have pulled over on the side of the highway and called an ambulance to deliver in the car had Jessica not been on the phone coaching me through everything. She is calm under pressure and helped us with every step of the way.
I cannot recommend Jessica enough. One of her best qualities is that she didn't try to sway me or judge the decisions I made (i.e. wanting an epidural), but instead she supported me throughout. Thanks Jessica!!
