Testimonial for Pascaline Vanoplynus
Pascaline was my doula for the birth of my fifth child in June 2016. This was the first time that I'd had a doula and I wasn't sure that I really needed one. I had given birth to my last three children naturally, without drugs, and I thought that I could manage on my own. However, my birth experience with Pascaline proved to be very positive, making this birth the easiest one yet.
Before the birth, we met twice to establish a birth plan. Having already experienced birth four times previously, I thought I knew what I wanted. However, Pascaline gave me many more options for natural pain management, most of which I'd never thought about. She also researched two health problems I had and presented me with reliable information. In the days leading up to the birth of my child I knew I could call Pascaline at any time if labour were to start.
During labour, Pascaline's presence was reassuring. She contributed to my mental well-being and confidence because I knew that either she or my husband would be with me at all times, even if one had to leave to eat or use the washroom. Best of all, her techniques made my contractions seem shorter and less intense.
Immediately after the birth Pascaline stayed with me for several hours. She gave me advice and helped me the first time I breastfed the baby. She also helped me get settled in my room with the baby and asked the nurses to let us sleep without interruption for the first few hours.
Pascaline checked in with me by telephone over the next few weeks to make sure that things were going well. When I had problems with the baby's umbilical cord stump, I asked for Pascaline's opinion. We also "relived" the birth of my child, helping me to process everything that had happened.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with Pascaline's services and would highly recommend her.
