Since we were expecting our first baby, we didn't know what to expect during the delivery. We'd heard doulas were helpful which is why we sought Heidi out, but we didn't realize how invaluable she would be.
Heidi's calm, strong, and supportive presence got me through 22 hours of labor. During the last 5-6 hours of hard labor when I really had a hard time keeping focused on my own, Heidi was there at my side every minute keeping me focused through each contraction. I'd had birth classes that taught excellent techniques on how to stay focused but during the actual labor, my techniques flew out the window! I'm really glad I had Heidi there because she was my rock.
