The first time I spoke with Amethyst on the phone I had a feeling she was the one. She was so easy to talk to, had great energy and seemed so self-assured, and after my husband and I met with her we knew she would be our doula. I had a very long, 49 hour labor and Amethyst helped me get through it in many ways. She kept me believing in myself when things became intense and offered a grounded, reassuring presence. Ours was a home birth and because my labor was so long, we came close to needing to transfer to the hospital to get things moving. Towards the end of the second day, Amethyst suggested that we take a walk and showed me a technique to help my contractions get stronger. I was exhausted and feeling a little worried, but by the end of the walk things were really starting to move and I gave birth to our baby girl at home in our bed a few hours later. We are so grateful for Amethyst being a part of the amazing team that helped to make our home birth a reality. I highly recommend Amethyst if you are looking for a very experienced doula who knows her stuff and will be there for you through and through.
