Beth was the back up doula for my initial doula whose kids got chickenpox. I was scheduled to meet Beth a couple weeks before my due date. My daughter had different plans. The day before I was supposed to meet Beth my water broke. I called Beth and she was a bit surprised but she told me to keep her updated. About 4:30 AM the morning I was supposed to meet her at 11 AM I called her and told her we were headed to the hospital. We got to the hospital about the same time I just got to my room when she got there. Even though we had never actually met before Beth jumped right in and started helping me. There were no issues not having met before she just jumped right in and started helping me through contractions. It was amazing. She was aware of my birth plan from my initial doula. She was calm and confident and able to help to the entire labor. Her background as a massage therapist was absolutely wonderful during labor especially due to most of my labor being in my back. She worked wonderfully with my husband and my midwife. It was a great experience especially for never having met her before and I sometimes have issues trusting people. I was able to get through labor with no epidural or significant interventions. I credit having Doula support from Beth as a major factor in the success of my labor and delivery. I am grateful that Beth was able to be there for me and my husband during the labor and delivery and would 100% use her again if we have another child.
