I've only given birth once, but I think Victoria has to be the best doula in Chicago. We met with Victoria several times before giving birth to talk about what to expect, and how to prepare, which helped us feel more relaxed about the "big day". We also talked through the birth plan together, which was really helpful to make sure we were all on the same page, and Victoria had several helpful suggestions we hadn't considered. My labor happened very quickly so I ended up meeting Victoria at the hospital where I was already 9 cm. Even though the labor was short, I had an hour in the tub, and 3 hours of pushing. All during that time, Victoria was giving me sips of water and Gatorade, massaging my back, suggesting different positions, giving me advice when I was pushing and so on. I managed to deliver an 8 lb 6 ounce baby boy naturally and I didn't even need any stitches afterwards. Victoria stayed to help try and get my son latched on during the first hour after the birth. She followed up with me a few days later, and when she learned I was having breastfeeding trouble, she helped connect me with donor milk organizations, as well as found a few willing donors for my son. She also provided an IBCLC referral who helped me further. Victoria visited me at home a week or so after my birth to make sure things were going well, and she even gave me a sweet little gift for the baby. All of this was really more than what I expected. I can't recommend her enough-she is worth every penny, plus some.
