Testimonial for Ame Solomon, RN, IBCLC

I pride myself on being someone who can see, learn, do.  Childbirth and what follows taught me this method does not apply.  I began working with Ame (taking her childbirth ed class) the day before my little one arrived 2 weeks early.  Immediately Ame became one of my husband and I's favorites through our childbirth and beyond process.  Her ability to genuinely care for another human being both in a very physical and phychological sense is what I would say is her gift.

Ame stayed with me for hours on end when my milk came in (very painfully) and would not come out.  On the verge of acquiring mastitis, she stayed at my house late into the night until we did everything under the sun to get that milk out!  She was great!  In the weeks that followed, and my first time mom ignorance of thinking I would be able to "do it all", I came to the grave realization that having a little one with the challenges that only come with being early, and small, I could not in fact do it all, much less do much!  Ame came to my house in the way a friend does and spent countless hours on the phone and emailing back and forth to help my family and I get the help we needed.  Never once did she give up on me, although I went through some rough stuff (not being able to breastfeed despite an abuldant supply), lack of sleep (we're literally talking minutes each night for the first couple months), a baby who only wants to be held, etc, on top of raising a step child, and dealing with pets, and the inevitable dirty house!

I would refer Ame to anyone in a heartbeat based on the few things I've mentioned above and all of the things there is not room enough to talk about in this small space.  She is a friend, coach, drill sargeant (in the best way possible), cheerleader, and the "mom" who listens without judgment and finds solutions when none seem apparent.  I am so thankful to her for her kindness and strength.
