Maria Apreza is an excellent doula. You will see that, connecting with people and helping them manage labor is a passion and not a task for her. Maria was present at my birth and as a first time mom, I felt that she was truly God-sent. She helped me cope with a very difficult labor that was very intense and I progressed the whole time that she was with me. She supported me with trying various positions, rebozo, TENS unit, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, back labor massage support, etc. She even remembered to give me some much needed lip balm and apple juice at the right times. While I look to her as a sister or a friend rather than a birth professional, she is very calm and composed as a professional should be. If it werent for her solid support, I doubt my birthing experiece would have been as good. In her care, I enjoyed a safe and natural, medication free birth.
Maria also helped my family stay calm and kept them abreast with everything they needed to know during the course of the labor. She also helped me deal with my initial hiccups managing a newborn. As a new mom, I was relieved to have trust-worthy Maria to go to, regarding my baby-related questions and worries.
I consider myself very lucky to have had her at my side at such a crucial time in my life. I'd readily recommend her to anybody who requires a doula for their birth or postpartum needs. I sincerely hope to have her at my subsequent labors when the time comes. Good luck, Maria.
