Oh my gosh! I can't say enough wonderful things about Amara! She was highly recommended by a friend who had used her services a year before. Ironically I had just met Amara through my job. It was like the stars lined up and encouraged me to take this path. From the first interview I felt very much at ease with her. I knew right away I wanted her as my doula no matter what path we chose to give birth. This was the first child for my husband and I and both of our families are out of state so we thought it was important to have some labor support. We also enrolled in her Birthworks classes and we learned so much.
In fact, working with Amara gave us lots of knowledge and empowered us to choose a home birth at 28 weeks into our pregnancy. She was always available (day and night) to answer any and all questions I had.
And when the big day came her support, encouragement, calm demeanor, and counter pressure with my husband and midwives helped me through even the most intense contractions and back labor. Due to a prolonged labor after my membranes broke and my daughter being in a psoterior postition, we decided to transfer to the hospital. Amara was there for me as I made that decision and she was so kind and supportive. Not onl did Amara empower me but she empowered my husband to be the most amazing labor support. They were both exactly what I needed.
Amara is very knowledgeable, kind, and extremely dependable. She sees pregnancy and birth as the true journey it can be and I am thankful I chose her to be on mine with me.
I not only recommend her but I will most definitely be using her services again when we have more children.
