I've welcomed four babies in five years, with my first three births ending in cesareans that I hadn't wanted. Over time, I've come to understand that each birth had something to teach me, and I've done a tremendous amount of reflecting, healing, and inner work along the way.
By the time I found Danette, I had already traveled a long road. I was confident, determined, and deeply invested in doing things differently. But I also came to realize that there were still things I needed to work through, not just surrounding birth, but within myself, my relationships, my aspirations, and my connection with God.
I have always believed myself capable of doing that work independently, but being guided into Danette's care showed me just how valuable it can be to have someone with the wisdom and experience to recognize the things you might not see yourself. Her ability to connect, understand, and gently guide me toward new perspectives was something truly special. She seemed to recognize immediately where I needed encouragement, where I needed a shift in perspective, and where there was still room for growth.
Although Danette wasn't ultimately the doula present at my birth, I can say without hesitation that her influence was an integral part of my journey. She helped me do some of the most meaningful inner work of my life, and I carried those lessons with me into the birth of my sweet baby.
I have an immense amount of respect for Danette. Her wisdom, intuition, and ability to meet someone exactly where they are is something I deeply admire. I walked away from our time together not only feeling supported, but having grown as a woman.
If you're looking for someone who sees birth as more than just a physical event, someone who recognizes the emotional, spiritual, and deeply personal transformation that comes with it, I cannot recommend Danette enough.
