Daria was such a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and grace during my birth experience. I can't recommend her enough. From the very beginning, she listened to exactly what I wanted or wanted to know more about with zero judgement or personal preference and really helped me to craft the ideal birth plan and all possible contingencies. She laid out all of the options and rooted her knowledge in science and her experience working with other kinds of births. She was also so helpful at dispensing ideas for managing labor progression. Daria is a great listener and such a gentle, caring spirit to have in your corner as you prepare for giving birth.
During the birth, she was there to help me discuss options at different stages, like when the hospital kept pushing to break my water, and was a great sounding board for me to figure out how I wanted to proceed. She made sure I was comfortable with my choices and with the physical comfort measures available to me and was completely on top of all of the little things (ice chips, apple juice, getting lighting set up). But most importantly, she listened to me and my partner and never felt like an obtrusive third party -- just a quiet and steady sounding board and caregiver advocate who really helped me and my partner feel comfortable. I felt prepared going into my labor and so well taken care of during it. Can't recommend Daria enough, and I hope I get to have her again for any future births!
