We can't say enough good things about our birth experience with Jen! As this was our first birth, we decided to enlist the help of a doula. We were extremely fortunate to be able to get in with Jen, as she only takes a few clients per month. This exclusivity meant that she was able to give us incredibly focused and individually tailored care, which we greatly appreciated.
Jen responded quickly to our initial inquiry, and we arranged a meeting over Zoom. During this meeting we found her to be knowledgeable and sincere, but above all else, she exuded a calm presence, that we felt was a must for a birthing environment. We felt like she was the right fit for us, and luckily, she felt the same. Up until birth, we had weekly class with Jen. We went through a litany of topics from breastfeeding, to birthing positions and exercises, as well as filling out a birth plan. Everything she went over was extremely helpful in preparing us for birth, and for the experience after.
When the day came, Jen showed up to help us labor at home, before then meeting us at the hospital. Her medical background became apparent as soon as we arrived in the room. She was always asking the right questions to hospital staff, and offering pushback when necessary. She knew where everything was, and was always right there if you needed a towel, or a drink. She offered lots of good advice and recommendations, and was always there to support us. She even found time to take pictures of the whole thing. Jen stayed by our side the entire time and did not leave until we made it safely to the postpartum room.
Even after the birth, Jen still visited the house, to make sure we were doing alright, and she was always available to talk whenever we had questions or concerns. We truly could not have done this without her, and looking back on it, we could not have found a better doula. Jen is the best, and hopefully she's available for our next one!
