I absolutely recommend Shana's services to the mothers, babies, and families. I connected with Shana during my second trimester. At the time I was facing consistent nausea, a stressful period at work, and both my husband, and I were working to navigate the unknowns of first-time parenthood. She emphasized and affirmed the complexity of birth, but also the anticipation, beauty and joy of my growing family, which was a great source of comfort and encouragement to us. Shana graciously met with us multiple times for over two hours before supporting me in the hospital in the hours before my son’s birth, through his delivery, and for nearly the first three hours of postpartum care.
Shana provided counsel to me on every element of my pregnancy, including prenatal stretching and exercises, optimizing my nutrition, birth preparation, and even guided me through drafting my birthing preferences. She answered every question I had and made herself available by phone to answer additional questions. In addition to her answers, she took the time to share podcasts and videos to help me fill in my own knowledge and understanding.
It meant so much to have Shana support us in the hospital for nearly twelve hours on birthing day, guiding me through stretching, breathing, various positions, encouraging me, and even coaching my husband to support me through contractions. She was prepared and brought everything we needed and used. Shana was a consummate professional who worked well with me, as well as the OB, nurses and staff. I genuinely cannot imagine going through my son’s birth without Shana by my side. Her experience and expertise as a doula, but more importantly I think her empathy and kindness, positioned her to guide me through my preferences and desires as the situation evolved.
