We had the pleasure of having Kiera as one of our doulas, following a recommendation from one of my midwives. This third pregnancy was our first time living in a new state without family nearby, and my husband was deployed for most of it. We relied heavily on friends for support, but I still longed for an experience reminiscent of earlier times, when a community of women helped bring a precious newborn into the world. Thanks to the Lord aligning everything in His timing, I got exactly that.
Kiera and I hit it off right away. My baby's due date came and went, as did my dream of a home birth as I approached the 42-week and 4-day limit. As my options narrowed toward a hospital birth and I felt like a spinning compass, Kiera kept me grounded—encouraging me and praying for my peace of mind.
At 42 weeks and 3 days, my husband finally returned home from his deployment. The very next morning, at 42 weeks and 4 days, I woke up in labor. Kiera arrived quickly, offering the exact words of affirmation and encouragement I needed. She even used a "tug of war" technique that provided incredible physical support during labor. With her help and the support of our team, we safely welcomed our healthy baby boy at home.
This birth journey was one of a kind, and I would not change a thing. If you are looking for a doula, I highly recommend Kiera. She is knowledgeable, up to date on birth practices, gentle yet strong, and truly acts as a steadfast guide when you need one most.
