Kay was a wonderful doula for me, and I highly recommend her. She was incredibly professional the whole way through the process - punctual, clear communication, extremely reliable - and brought her knowledge and sense of humor to every meeting. I was particularly interested in a doula with Spinning Babies training, and she is clearly passionate and informed about that methodology. When it came time for my birth, she supported me with incredible stamina throughout a very long and unpredictable process. She provided physical relief during and between contractions with targeted massage and pressure, and I honestly don't think I could have tolerated the unmedicated hours in labor at the birth center without her. We ultimately had to transfer to the hospital for an epidural and eventually a C section. I was skeptical about the value of a doula in that phase, but her presence was so helpful. She continued to keep track of timing to help me rotate on schedule to move the epidural medicine evenly throughout my lower body, and supported my partner in keeping track of other details. After my C-section she was there to help me express colostrum and stayed with me while my partner was with the baby in the NICU. She also came back a couple days later to support so my partner could spend a few hours away from the hospital with our other children. It was such a gift to have that support.
