What stood out most about Juan Qin ("Jane") was how genuinely she cared for our baby. It felt like she really LOVED our baby. She was endlessly patient, talking and singing to him, and making time for daily diaper-free breaks when he developed diaper rash, even when it was inconvenient. As first-time parents, we felt reassured knowing he was in such capable hands.
Jane is also an exceptional cook and baker. She made delicious dishes from different regions of China, plus wonderful homemade cookies and desserts! She was a self-sufficient chef and knew exactly which ingredients to buy online or at the supermarket.
Breastfeeding was particularly challenging for me. Our jaundiced baby needed bottles for his first two weeks, then initially refused the breast. Jane patiently helped us try different latching techniques, recommended bottles to ease the transition, and prepared foods to support my milk supply. I was skeptical of her bottle recommendations, but she proved right! With her help, we successfully transitioned to breastfeeding. She also joined my lactation and doctor appointments and helped implement their advice at home.
Jane's overnight care was invaluable during those exhausting early weeks. She never complained about our baby's fussiness and always cared for him patiently. She has a natural gift for soothing babies. On outings, she anticipated our needs, like bringing blankets and sun covers, and confidently handled diaper changes. She also taught us essential newborn care, from bathing and burping to relieving gas and trimming his fingernails. Thanks to her, we even enjoyed a few much-needed date nights!
We recommend Jane wholeheartedly. She is kind, knowledgeable, resourceful, and deeply caring. She gave us invaluable peace of mind during a transformative time. And in a final, thoughtful gesture, she left us a freezer full of homemade wontons and dumplings so we can enjoy her cooking for weeks to come!
