Hiring Harmony as my doula was one of the best decisions - I'm sure my experience of birth and postpartum would not have been as positive without her!
I had a 26 hour labor, and she was there for constant support throughout, first by text and call, and then she came to our house and was there to help me through contractions and stay cool once they were really challenging. She knew when it was time to head to the birthing center and went with us. Not only did she get me through the rest of the birth, she also rode with me in the ambulance when I had to be transfered to the hospital for stitches, advocated for me/our family throughout, held my hand during the repair, and stayed with us till almost 5am. She continued to check in on us as we stayed at the hospital for a couple of nights.
Something I really appreciated was the lightness and comfort she brought to the experience. She just has the best energy and it made all the difference for me.
We opted to include her birth education course, too, and it was especially useful for my partner to learn and be able to ask questions about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She also made it genuinely fun. It was very much worth it.
On her postpartum visit, Harmony spent time with us in our home and with our little boy, and showed us how to baby wear and burp and other useful tips, debriefed with me on the whole experience which was very helpful, and even brought us a delicious pumpkin bread! She is a 5 star doula and an amazing person.
