A father’s point of view:
Casey was amazing, we felt really empowered to have her there. Such a big moment in our lives is just a day-to-day for the staff, so much of the issues were with hospital staff. Which luckily there wasn’t much. I know being there day in and day out can make it routine, I would argue most if not all, understood it. But when it came to questions about what was happening or concerns, they do not talk to you about anything. I assume it’s for litigation purposes as well as keeping people’s endless amounts of opinions out of the area where you want confidence and expertise to be the guide. So having our own professional with an established understanding of us and what we wanted made for the most stressful time of our lives to be muddled to a manageable stress level. She did an excellent job getting us prepared for what was coming, gave each spouse a form to fill out to see what our differences of comfort levels towards certain culture attitudes or we may have or ideas about delivery that we might have questions about. It was a great way to find out my wife and I wanted the same thing. Both of us wanted us to have the easiest path ahead for my wife’s pregnancy. As well as going through a certain procedure such as making sure the blood was completely and naturally drained into the little one after exit and before the cutting of the umbilical cord. Something that my wife advocated for and Casey did everything in her power to provide it and it happened exactly as my wife asked. Long story comes to a wonderful end. She spent the entire time she could out the 3-4 days with us and even helped in the final pushes of my son’s birth. Without her and the world of help she brought us, as a now father of a 16-month-old, I will say more than anything, I don’t regret the wonderful time of preparation and dedication she brought to us all throughout the pregnancy and birthing process.
