We had a terrible experience with Ashleigh and would not recommend hiring her. As a FTM with a plan to have an unmedicated birth in a birthing center, I was adament about hiring a doula. I interviewed serveral and started feeling anxious in my second trimester when many of the doulas I was interested in were unavailable for my due date. I found Ashleigh, although she only had two years of experience, she was incredibly persistent and had good reviews, so after a zoom meeting, I decieded to move forward with her. My finance from the start, did not care for her, she was incredibly adament about getting paid and for our in person meeting, she had promised to bring all the tools to manage pain, she showed up with nothing. My fiance kept saying that all she wanted was to get paid and she hadn't even done anything for us. I assured him that her expertise would come later. At week 32, I found out my son was frank breeched, I spent the remainder of my pregnancy visiting chiropracters, acupuncturists, pelvic floor therapist and doing daily exercises recommened by Spinning Babies, he would NOT budge. After my unsucessful ECV, it was apparent that I would need to schedule a planned C-section. After paying her 2500.00, all she did was show up to the hospital for my scheduled C-section at 6AM, we went into the OR at 9am, my son was born 47 minutes later and she stayed for maybe two hours before rushing off to her next birth. She lucked out, I never labored, she never had to do much except show up and incert herself in my birthing experience. I had requested eucalyptus essential oil, she showed up with lavender. My friends and I made light of the situation by laughing that she literally had one job and she botched it. In the weeks after giving birth, Ashleigh never bothered to even send me a "how are you" text, she is in breech of our contract, she never scheduled a postpartum visit. I sent her a text, it was marked read, no response.
