Sarah was my doula for my third birth. Even though I had two successful natural births prior, without a doula, I'm glad I had her support this time. The last stretch of birth is challenging and it was reassuring to know she was there just for me (rather than having hospital/birthing center policy or even the baby to worry about).
Sarah's kind, gentle encouragement meant a lot and helped me not get lost in myself and the pain of that final stretch. I had been very hestitant to let another person in my birthing space but I'm glad I did!
My husband has always been helpful and supportive but there's something very nice about having a woman as a support because you know they can relate.
