Testimonial for Shana Bartlett
Throughout our time together, both in pregnancy, labor and birth, and postpartum, Shana was professional but personable, extremely empathetic and kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and dependable.
She asked lots of questions and took notes each meeting, often following up via text with answers to questions I may have had or with more information on a certain topic we’d discussed. Her knowledge and experience both as a doula but also a mother of 5 was both helpful and reassuring, especially when I had anxieties about labor specifically. She equipped us to be ready for birth both emotionally and mentally as well as practically by asking about my birth plan and other contingencies so we would know our options should our plans change unexpectedly. One of my favorite parts (which speaks to her love and genuine care for her clients) was how she included my 2 year old daughter in our visits. She asked her questions, played with her, and made her feel comfortable (which is a feat alone). I love that Shana understands it’s not just the mother who needs support but the whole family!
During labor, her voice helped me relax and stay calm. She reminded me of certain things I had mentioned before that I knew would be tough to remember in the moment of a hard labor. She was both encouraging verbally as well as very hands-on, ready to apply counter pressure or a cold rag whenever needed. Her presence gave both me and my husband lots of confidence throughout the process.
I highly recommend Shana to those looking for professional, thoughtful, caring, and hands-on, doula support throughout pregnancy and birth. We were so encouraged by her!!
