After experiencing a traumatic birth experience with my second child I knew that when it came to having our third baby I wanted to have a doula there. The reason why I wanted to have a doula was because I wanted someone to advocate for my baby and myself, someone to be knowledgeable with the medical aspect/provide the best guidance and options available to us (so my husband didn’t have to worry about that like we did previously), and to assist me into delivering my baby unmedicated. Chelsey provided me with all of those things AND then some! During the actual labor part she also spoke to the medical staff about what I was wanting in my birth plan while I was laboring and then she would come back to me to tell me what my options where and would ask how I wanted to proceed which was great because I was more focused on the labor part itself. During labor she made me feel safe, cared for and focused on throughout the entirety of the labor process. There are things that I wouldn’t have even thought I might have wanted during my labor that she provided that made the room feel calm and safe. The memory of my labor is something I will hold onto dearly, it was such an amazing experience and it was everything I wanted and could have imagined. I will continue to recommend her to any friends who would like to hire a doula, Chelsey is just so amazing! I am so incredibly thankful and eternally grateful to have had Chelsey during my entire pregnancy process and we would definitely love to hire her again in the future if we have more children!
For spouses: I'd like to add that my husband was pretty skeptical about hiring a doula, he didn't realize how much support Chelsey would actually give us. He told me “I will not stop talking about this birth experience and how great everything was, I will go on and talk about this for many years to come”. That should tell you everything you need to know about Chelsey!
